Like the arresting beauty of Helen of Troy, a new maiden has arrived on shore and is soon to captivate the tastes of the country’s coffee and tea-drinking populace. Soon to launch a thousand coffee cups, Chaikofi Brewing Lounge, a subsidiary of Winace Holdings Philippines, Inc., chaired by businessman and coffee aficionado Teodorico T. Haresco, Jr., brings the pleasure of fine coffee and tea drinking and Asian gastronomic treat in an ambience that offers a whimsical fantasy feel.

The name Chaikofi is a play of two words: Chai (tsai) is Indonesian for tea, and kofi is a stylized rendition of the word that has become synonymous to pleasure. Explains General Manager Michael Tayag, establishing Chaikofi in the Philippines feels like bringing home a long-time coffee- and tea-drinking tradition. “Coffee and tea drinking is usually associated with the Europeans. Asians and Filipinos are affectionate coffee and tea lovers, too. Manila is home to the world-renowned barako,” he says.

Chaikofi offers pulp brewed, fresh brewed and fresh ground coffee in various permutations. This is complimented with a menu of healthy fruit-and-fresh-tea-leaf concoctions as well.

The Chaikofi experience is like no other. The restaurant mixes the classy and sultry with its motif of yellow and black, is adorned with enigmatic wall paintings, and where the rich aroma of coffee is blended with soothing modern music. Picture a place where you can fall in love, exchange intellectual musings, clinch a business deal, or simply sit back and pack away your cares. These, over cups of coffee and tea that are uniquely Chaikofi.

As a restaurant café, Chaikofi is premised under the concept of “The Five Faces,” it offers to percolate one’s spirit with every cup, brew relationships and ideas, become the blending point of friendly and youthful debates, stir in the art of Asian fine living, and, simply, to chill.

“We want people to come and relax, use our wi-fi facility, enjoy the music,” and simply have fun over cups of coffee, tea and a serving of Asian dishes.

Chaikofi is a full-service restaurant café. Unlike in other coffee shops where patrons have to fall in line and wait to be served, Chaikofi guests are pampered like kings. There is, with every Chaikofi staff, a desire to serve and to please.

This brand of guest service, combined with a pleasurable coffee experience, is affordable. Chaikofi’s 8-ounce pulp-brewed coffee is reasonably priced at P40. Foodies can take a pick from Chaikofi’s selection of five full rice and noodle meals cooked in renditions of Cantonese and Indonesian gourmet at just P120.

To advertise its products to the people, Chaikofi chooses simplicity and sincerity. “I believe that the best way to advertise our products is through the people. We hand out ourselves to them. After complimenting our guests and making them feel welcome, we take the product to them. Our people don’t wait for guests to come; they go and get them to experience our products. I believe in advertising Chaikofi, aggressiveness is the key,” Tayag says. Thus, Chaikofi restaurant cafes have the Xpresso™ booth. Outside the main café is a booth where coffee can be bought by busy passers-by who want to grab a cup but just can’t buy the time.

Chaikofi Brewing Lounge offers membership privileges through its Captain Pot Club. At just P100 annual membership fee, holders of the Captain Pot Club membership card avails 10% discount on food, beverage, and merchandise items for every single transaction, or group transaction where not all dining customers are members; complimentary brewed coffee and featured dessert on a member’s birthday with a minimum purchase of P250, one complimentary refill of brewed coffee any day between 10 am to 12 noon, and other coupons and vouchers for complimentary premiums.
